Successful Farming Magazine recently published an article about the important role that temperature plays in grain storage.
"...The delicate balance of running fans to aerate stored grain requires more than a nose, which is why Winkowitsch advocated using technology to track temperature and relative humidity inside and outside the structure to determine when fans should run.
Use technology to monitor and protect on-farm grain storage. :At 12% moisture and 40°F, corn can be stored about 400 days before it begins to deteriorate, Winkowitsch said. However, 12% corn at 70°F lasts just 40 days. Manage those facilities to keep grain at 40–50°F, he added..."
